treatment for chlamydia in men

STD is the shortened form for sexually transmitted diseases. They are diseases that are transferred through sexual contact be it vaginal, anal or oral intercourse. For men, the symptoms of these various STDs are far easier to detect and see as compared to those in the females. The male reproductive organs are mostly exposed and external making detection far easier. Most STDs in the male body can be seen in the penis, anus, rectum, and scrotum and these areas are the places where symptoms are usually seen. It is therefore advantageous for you to know what these symptoms are so as not to mistake them for any other illness.

One of these STDs is Chlamydia. Men suffer from the terrible effects of this STD even though most of the people afflicted with this illness are women. Symptoms appear 1 to 3 weeks after initial contact with the infection and are usually manifested by a burning sensation while urinating. Itchiness in the penis and testicles as well as pain and swelling in the area are also commonly found. A clear discharge that comes from the genitals is an indicative sign of Chlamydia.

Gonorrhea on the other hand shares a lot of common symptoms with Chlamydia. However, the problem lies with the fact that a lot of men actually show no signs of the disease. The symptoms, if they do appear, show themselves 2 to 10 days after being exposed to the infection. They also feel a burning sensation whilst urinating accompanied by pain during sexual intercourse, frequent feelings of urinating, and a thick, bloody, and cloudy discharge that is usually yellow, green or white in color that comes from the genitals. If the man performed oral sex, he may also experience sore throat.

Syphilis is another STD that is very common. Its tell-tale sign is the appearance of a painless sore known as Chancre that is found in the genitals, scrotum, and anus. The sore appears 10 to 90 days after contact with the causative agent and usually lasts up to 3 to 6 weeks. It will heal spontaneously and if left untreated will proceed to the 2nd stage of the illness where there are appearances of rashes all over the body, usually in the palm of the hands and the soles of the feet. These symptoms eventually disappear for some time and will comeback after a while bringing in more bad news. Organ damage may now result and blindness, paralysis and even death may happen.

With all of these symptoms, it is hard to know what type of STD you may have. Also, some if not most of these symptoms are generally shared by other STDs and non-STD conditions. It is, therefore, quite hard to tell if you have an STD or what type of STD you have. Your safest bet would be to go to an STD clinic and get tested, especially if you are sexually active. You may never know what may happen to you if you leave things untreated and as is.

Planned Parenthood is free if you have a job?

I wondered if it cost to get pregnant or other evidence of HIV or STD test … about especially here in Phoenix, AZ dont work I have no insurance …

For me it was, I left when I was not sure my parents and I needed help with a breast lump, I helped get term insurance (since it was an emergency) and refers to an exit. I also went back after that to get checked for HIV transmission and disease sex, this is free if you do not have insurance, they gave me a card benefits to use for when I needed to go I also agree with the response from others, prescribe / give birth control and make sure the birth control you're using is right for you. (I use the pill, but by a friend of mine that you miss, so he opted for the trip) Normall if you are uninsured and do not work they will ask if you donated anyamount to give. If you works and the little money they will ask you to pay a portion of the services they receive. But again that is my experience here in California. I call and ask the operator or come and see .. should be asked if you have insurance when you enter, and if you should be given paperwork to fill.

what’s worse gonorrhea or chlamydia

what's worse gonorrhea or chlamydia
Lower abdominal pain, from UTI or vaginal infection?

I’m 15. I went to the dr about a week ago w/ itchiness, burning and frequent urination, strong smelling urine, discharge, and the day before, my lower right back was hurting really bad & I was nauseous for about an hour. He said I had a UTI, yeast infection, and vaginitis which was prob chlamydia or gonorrhea.

He gave me an anti-bacterial shot (Rocephin), a dose of another anti-bacterial (Zithromax) and some pill for yeast infections. When the test results came back that I had a UTI my dr gave me Cephalexin to take 3 times a day for 10 days (it’s like the 5th day now).

The only symptoms I have now are discharge, and now my left lower back and stomach has been hurting realllyyy bad & getting worse. It also hurts worse when I pee, but could that be because I’m pushing on my pelvic muscles?

I have an appointment w/ my gynecologist this Thursday.
Why is my left side hurting, what from and what’s my dr gonna do?

Wow you had all these at the same time? Well your first symptoms definitely describe a yeast infection as I currently have one as well. The abdominal pain and frequent urination sounds like the UTI. I’ve had that before as well. I think you have to be patient because you haven’t finished the full 10 days yet which means it’s not entirely cleared. Your doctor will most likely ask you if you’re feeling better and if not you may have to see a urologist if it’s something to do with the UTI. Sometimes if you don’t take care of it quickly the bacteria can spread to the kidneys. That’s more serious and that usually causes the abdominal pains.

signs of std in throat

can swollen lymph nodes in the neck be a symptom of an STD?

Depending on what my boyfriends doctor says i might have an STD. I wanted to know if the swollen lympth nodes in my neck were just a sign of getting sick or a sign the i do have an STD. I have a temp of about 99 but it goes up and down. We both have never had sex with anyone else but they are still checking to see if he has an std. I dont have a sore throat, but i have alittle abdominal cramps but they dont last long. I have 2 periods last month and i have watery discharge with no odor (though its a couple days before my period). I just wnat to know whether i need to go to the reg. doctor cus im getting sick or gyno cus i might have an std…

i don’t know about the girl above me, but i’d prefer an STD rather than cancer, swollen lymph nodes, i’m a very honest person, and i’ve answered many questions on here with honesty, and swollen lymph nodes aren’t a very good sign, lymph nodes are glands in your lymphatic system that helps fight off viruses and infections, but with your symptoms i want to say you might’ve contracted ghonorrhea, the good thing about that is that it’s curable =) swollen lymph nodes are also a sign of herpes, so keep checking up with your doctor to see what he says, good luck and God bless.

p.s. if you do have an std and your boyfriend said he hasn’t been sleeping around with anybody else, i think he’s a liar.

For those who are not familiar with genital herpes, detecting symptoms in men may be difficult. Understanding the disease is key to recognizing the symptoms associated with it. For the benefit of those unfamiliar with it, genital herpes is a sexually transmitted disease. Known also as herpes simplex virus 2 (HSV2), it is one of two kinds of herpes, the other being HSV1 or what is more commonly known as cold sores. HSV2 is considered as the more severe of the two kinds of herpes. Once acquired, the virus stays in the body of the infected individual for life. It can lie dormant for a long time but can result in outbreaks that are usually triggered by stress or other diseases.

Genital herpes symptoms in men usually start with a tingling and itching sensation in the genital area. These symptoms are usually warning signs before an actual outbreak occurs. During an actual outbreak, the infected person may experience having painful red bumps on and around the penis. These bumps will eventually turn into blisters and then into open sores. The final stage of the outbreak is characterized by the formation of scabs over the sores.

Other symptoms in men include swollen lymph node, painful urination, headache, fever and fatigue. The symptoms begin to appear between the 3rd and 7th day of acquiring the disease and last for two weeks on the average.

To minimize the discomfort and pain associated with genital herpes symptoms in men, it is important for a person feeling these symptoms to immediately see a medical doctor. It is important for persons with genital herpes to know that the disease is not a death sentence. In fact, many people with genital herpes are able to live a normal lives.
