treatment of gonorrhea with azithromycin

Also known as Lymphogranuloma inguinale and tropical bubo, Lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV) is a sexually transmitted chlamydial infection caused by three related but distinct types of Chlamydia trachomatis (L-1, L2 and L-3).

These are different than the types that cause non-gonococcal urethritis/cervicitis in men and women respectively.

Though LGV is more common in tropical and subtropical parts of the world; it is seen in outbreaks in the United States and Western Europe particularly in men that have sex with other men.

This bacterium is transmitted primarily through sexual contact (oral, genital or anal) and with any direct contact with open lesions. It is believed to be transmissible via skin to skin contact.

The infection is characterized by small painless papules, nodules or ulcers which may form on the penis or within the urethra in men, and on the vulva, vaginal wall or cervix in women. This lesion frequently may go unnoticed. It may take from 3-30 days before the primary lesion appears.

Lymph nodes in the area near the infection typically swell and the presence of inguinal or femoral buboes may be seen. In women these external node are rarely affected, but proctitis may be the result of swelling of the pelvic nodes extending to the rectum.

For those that practice rectal intercourse, proctitis may be a manifestation of the disease. Rectal ulcers, discharge, pain and bleeding are also common presentations.

Elephantiasis of the genitals in both men and women may occur in cases of untreated LGV.

Like other ulcer forming sexually transmitted infections (STI) like syphilis, chancroid and herpes; LGV increases the chance of getting HIV.

Most of the available laboratory tests available (immunofluorescence, EIA, etc) can test for the presence of Chlamydia however, they do not differentiate LGV from non-LGV chlamydial types. Diagnosis is frequently made on symptoms and other clinical findings.

LGV can be treated successfully with antibiotics (doxycycline and azithromycin as an alternative) for all stages of infection including lesions and buboes.

As with other ulcerative STI’s, LGV can still be transmitted even with condom use if infected areas are not covered.

about std testing
I got an std testing done on me a few months ago but never went back 4 the results, would they contact me?

Would they contact me right away if the test did show something? I remember I couldn’t go back because I had to leave town on a family emergency and then just forgot about it. But I’m wondering if I would have had something are they oblicated to contact me right away?

They should have contacted you with the result whether it is negative or positve. Also, never trust a physicians office to contact you with your results. They are usually very busy and he go thru hundreds of test results every week. They sometimes are neglectful of test results thinking you already may know.
I would call them just to be on the safe side and ask for the result and take the name of the person who gives you the result if it is not the physician.

std testing menstruation

Unprotected sexual intercourse a day after the end of menstruation, pregnancy risks?

Hello, I have a girlfriend of 3 years, we very monogamous and have been tested, so that STDs are not even an issue. She just had unprotected sex for the first time, 24 hours after your menstrual cycle (bleeding) ended. Her gynecologist told her that there is no risk. Want a second opinion? Please do not reply. Thank you very much.

time of ovulation is calculated from the beginning of last menstrual period (not final) – if you bled for 7 days ….. could be at risk. the high risk isn't, but its still there. if you really do not want a child ……. I consider the morning-after pill.

buy antibiotics for gonorrhea

Questions about medicine for chlamydia/gonorrhea?

I went to the doctor and she said she would give me a shot and antibiotics to take care of chlamydia and gonorrhea in case the results came out positive. I got the shot yesterday but I couldn’t buy the medicine Im about to get it today, Was I supposed to take it yesterday? will that affect me in anyway? Also I masturbated yesterday… Did I get the shot medicine out of my system when I came?

starting the oral meds a day late won’t affect the outcome. the shot was probably ceftriaxone
which is excreted primarily by the kidneys not the penis. you’re okay.

My boyfriend had oral sex with someone else, should i still kiss him?

First Off, Im 14 and My Boyfriend is 15.

My boyfriend had oral sex, (before we started dating) and im kinda worried about kissing him because of that. should i be worried or is it nothing? He doesn’t have an STD or anything but i don’t feel comfortable kissing him now.. should i still be worried? Its just weird for me to picture the fact that whenever i kiss him, i’ll be kissing someone else’s vagina..

and also… if i do decide to get over it.. any tips of kissing a guy? what satisfies them most in a kiss?

Any Advice?

As you get older and date, most guys you kiss will have had their mouths all over other women. You either accept that as how things are and don’t dwell on it, or only kiss guys who’ve never kissed women’s intimate parts before…trust me as you get older, you’ll find it harder and harder to find such a guy.

You’re too young for one-on-one dating anyway. How do you know the guy doesn’t have an STD? Did he show you a medical report?

Kissing is something you pick up on over time…different people have different styles.
