Extremely painful bump on lower lip?

A little over a month ago I got a bump on my lip that hurts when I am not touching it so you can imagine how it is when I touch it. It went away, but I have one again now. If you put it under a magnifying glass it would be like a crater except it rises up instead of down if that makes any sense. After awhile last time it got sheets of pus on it and I had to peel it off and it hurt really bad. BTW I have never had any sort of interaction so its not an STD. I am a vegetarian now I have been one for about 5 months I thought it might be an important piece of information.
Is there another form of Herpes that isn’t from intercourse of something?

Yes there is mouth herpes (AKA canker sores and cold sores) that are not caused from sex/STDs. You could also have an abscess in your mouth. The best thing is to keep it try and try an over the counter product like Abreva. I personally take Lysine (a natural trace supplement) to prevent cold sores. You can buy it in the vitamin section at Wal-Mart or any other drug/pharmacy type store. I take 1,000 mg a day to prevent cold/canker sores. However, if it’s an abscess, you may need to go to the doctor to get an antibiotic for it. Since you’ve had the bump for over a month, I would suggest going to the doctor, because canker sore/cold sores usually clear up before that amount of time.

Should I get the HPV vaccine, in this situation?

I’m getting married in a little over 4 months. First, that’s not really enough time to get the vaccine anyways since it’s supposed to be 3 shots over 6 months. I do NOT like the idea of a vaccine whose long term side effects can’t be known yet. I’m really healthy, and I’m 21.

I also know HPV is really common, and people can have it without knowing it. My fiance has had 2 previous partners, and through sexual histories, no one involved has any STDs to their knowledge, but sometimes there are no symptoms (also, I’m a virgin.)

What I’m saying is that my fiance is clean as much as can be tested, but there’s always a possibility of a non-symptomatic STD, like HPV.

What do you think of the risks associated with unknown long term side effects of the HPV vaccine vs. the likelihood of my fiance having HPV without knowing it? Also consider that the vaccine is not 100%, and even if I got HPV, I might not ever know it/show symptoms. Doctor/expert opinions GREATLY appreciated!!

I recently heard that half of sexually active people have HPV. Chances are good that your fiance has it, and doesn’t even know. Why not get the vaccine? Even if it’s not 100%, it’s better than nothing. A friend of mine had a complete hysterectomy before the age of 30, due to cervical cancer. Her husband was her only partner.

both of them are completely curable. If you had unprotected sex with him then yes you have it also. If you’re both not only having sex with each other then you should use condoms cause there’s worst stuff out there. Be lucky that this time it was something that you can get rid of.

what are the symptoms for chlamydia

Question about UTI and Chlamydia and Antibiotics?

I recently got tested for hiv/stds, negative for everything except I am awaiting the results of the chlamydia/gonnohrea test. The doc used a swab in my urethra and I came down with a UTI a few days later. I’ve never had a UTI before in my life, and I am wondering if it was caused by the exam or if was caused by an std itself. I have never had any symptoms of chlamydia but was told by a partner quite a while ago that I may have it. I went to a regular doc today, he tested my urine and found blood, gave me a prescription for Bactrim.

My question is, what do I do if the results from the std test come back positive for chlamydia? I know Bactrim doesn’t cover this. Is the UTI I have from the exam being done? What do I do about the anitbiotics? If I have chlamydia they will probably give me Azithromycin. Do I continue the Bactrim? HELP

you will be on both medications unless there is a contraindication with using them both. dont think there would be. UTI’s are common in women, there nothing to worry about if you are getting treated for it. If by chance you have chlamydia, you will be prescribed another antibiotic that will take that away. also be aware that taking antibiotics cause yeast infections a lot of the time. if you still have questions about taking these medications together, you can ask your doctor or a pharmacist.

treatment chlamydia pregnancy

Help I am so confused

I have been having complications with my pregnancy and come to find out it is because I have chlamydia. i have only been with my husband and nobody else for the past six years. I have 3 kids already. I have been tested with this several times and it comes up now when I am in my 7th week of my 4th pregnancy. Does this mean that my husband cheated on me? I really don’t believe that he did. I don’t know how he has had time. Is there anyway that it could be caused from a infection or something besides just him sleeping with someone else? I love my husband and I don’t want to confront him on this untill I am clear of how it could have happened. I asked my doctor and he said the main cause is sex. I don’t see how it happend when I have only been with him for the past 6 years and he supposedly only with me for the past 6 years. Please help. How can this affect my unborn child? I am getting treatment for it now.

I think a great question to ask your Dr is how long it can remain dormant in someone. The only way your husband didn’t cheat is if he had it before you were together and it remained dormant all this time… which is pretty unlikely. Were you tested for std’s during the last 6 years? Was he? Has he been on any trips lately or to any bachelors parties? Seems like even the most true blue boys make mistakes at those. I’m sorry you had to find out this way.

untreated gonorrhea in men

Quiz – What complications can result from untreated Gonorrhea?

Test your sexual health knowledge. Do you know what can happen when you leave a Gonorrhea infection untreated? This goes for both men and women! The more information you can share, the better! There are different complications in both men and women.

While men are more likely to have symptomatic infection than women, women are much more likely to have serious complications for gonorrhea (i.e. including pelvic inflammatory disease, infertility, pregnancy complications, perinatal transmission, perihepatitis). Endometritis and pelvic inflammatory disease occur in 10-20% of gonococcal infections in women, and these complications may need hospitalization and/or surgery. Pelvic inflammatory disease can cause chronic pelvic pain and infertility or ectopic pregnancy. Obstetric complications are more common in pregnant women with gonorrhea, and their newborns may have ophthalmia neonatorum

Disseminated gonococcal infection can manifest as pustular skin lesions on hands and feet, tenosynovitis, and polyarthritis. It can also cause many serious complications, including septic arthritis (the most common nongenital complication) and endocarditis.

Complications in men include epididymitis and orchitis. Gonococcal conjunctivitis arises in 1-2% of cases. Other complications include: periurethral abscess. HIV transmission may be facilitated because of an increased shedding of HIV in the semen of men with gonorrhea
