About a month ago i was raped and now my boyfriend is having symptoms of stds. I am not having any, but i don’t know if i just don’t show symptoms for some reason. We have had sex since and i’m worried i gave him something. Every clinic i go to the average cost is around $150. I don’t have health care or insurance and don’t have the money. Is there anyway to check for stds yourself, and not go to a clinic? because i have no idea what to do!

You can go to your local Health Department or Planned Parenthood for low-cost or free testing. Some STDs don’t have symptoms, so testing is the only way to find out for sure if you are infected.

not at all. For HIV/AIDS they draw blood. It does not hurt and is quit easy. For Other STDs they use a long qtip and swab the inside of ur penis it is a little uncomfortable but all this can be avoided to a degree with the use of rubbers. Later stages of syphilis are tested by blood draw. So opefully this answers ur ? Also if u think u have one get checked it is ur best option.

I think I may be getting a male yeast infection, or balanits but I’m not sure if its that.
If i go to do a STD test at planned parenthood, would they be able to detect if its any of those if its not herpes or somthing else serious?

Balanits is pretty obvious from looking at it so that should be able to be tested by a culture swab if not just by sight. Other tests are used for other STD’s and you can ask for a full array of tests to rule out other STD’s when you go.

Planned parent hood centers have STD experts their and they are normally very professional and helpful

Why is it illegal to tell the public that an individual has an STD?

I mean, wouldn’t it save MORE lives if there was an easy way to be told if someone had an STD? An STD/AIDS test costs money which is why people don’t really go through with all that trouble. But if there was an offical file (almost like a phone book) that was updated every year that told who had an STD, wouldn’t that make life much easier for people who aren’t infected?

What about all the THOUSANDS of people who contracted a STD without being told about it? That’s COMPLETELY unfair to them.

I personally contracted genital herpes and HPV from a man who didn’t tell me he had either virus. So would it be fair for me to be punished and possibly go to jail for something I didn’t do?

And, how about the women who are raped? Is it their fault they have a STD?

Doing this would just completely blacklist MILLIONS of people. It’s absolutely NO ONES business if I or anyone else has a STD unless I am having sex or sexual contact with someone. Why should I and MILLIONS of others be blacklisted and looked down upon by family, friends, and co-workers? It’s ridiculous.

And, like a person above mentioned, most STDs are NOT fatal! HIV/AIDS is the only STD that is fatal. There are others that can be, like syphilis or HPV (cervical cancer), but with treatment and proper screening this can usually be avoided.

Doing this would completely invade a persons privacy and is completely going against the HIPPA law. It’s not the publics business to know this information.
