I have seen similar questions on this site about HIV transmission but most of them are not accurate. HIV is , unlike what most people think, hard to get. Can’t believe it?

I learned HIV has to be tested a few times in 2-7 years for it to be diagnosed because it wouldnt show up in all blood tests. So it might show up on test in year 2 or year 7 or even later but it might not show up in year 7 at all. It’s tricky. God bless you
Is anyone alarmed at the lack of understanding about sex and anatomy kids and parents on this site have?
I just answered a question about talking to your child about sex and couldn’t believe the number of moms who thought their child got everything they needed to know from friends,etc. I don’t doubt they get a lot of info that way, but take a look at the number of “could I be pregnant” and “can you get pregnant this way” and “could I have an STD” questions you see on this site and you’ll know immediately that they aren’t getting the CORRECT and complete info… Isn’t it better to have an embarrassing conversation with your child than to have to take them for an HIV test or help them decide what to do about an unwanted pregnancy?
Yes, some of the questions are rather disturbing, as well as some of the answers. My favorite I have seen repeated multiple times is that contact with air makes sperm non-viable. It was even a best answer once! (1 vote)
I think that sex education in schools is important because it is apparent that many parents aren’t up to it because they are embarrassed, misinformed themselves, or think that keeping their kids naive will keep the “innocent” as well. If the kids get a strong message on the moral aspects of sex from their parents and/or church, then learning about the nitty-gritty at school shouldn’t be a problem.

there are ones for HIV in New york and i would think there would be ones for HIV in central massachusestts. these are free for you to take b/c the public really wants to know who has it. best of luck.
There is a strong possibility I am pregnant. I track my cycles very regularly and might have conceived 4 -5 days ago. My question is, why am I itching so badly down there? This is internal itching (not external). I have no discharge or odor and I know what a yeast infection looks and feels like. I’ve been monogomous all my life (husband only) so I highly doubt it’s an STD esp. since no odor/discharge/pain.
I’ve heard that being pregnant can “change the PH” down there and cause itching but could this happen just 5 days into a pregnancy?
Yes, itching is very common in pregnancy. The normal change to the PH level can cause irritation in the vaginal tract. How early you might experience the itching varies with every woman.
If you suspect it’s due to pregnancy you can make a paste of baking soda and water and apply the paste to the area that itches. If this provides no relief, then suspect something else like a vaginal infection and call your doctor.
